Petzl Pixa 3 Caving Light Petzl Pixa 3 Caving Light
Ref: E78CHB-CAVE, EAN:

Compact, robust and waterproof. Good for general caving but ideal for tight and awkward caves, or digs where space is confined. The elastic head band is easily removed for washing or can be replaced by an easy-clean rubber strap which is available separately.

· Waterproof IP67.
· Tough rubberised construction.
· Large positive rotary switch.
· The head turns in on its self for storage.
    a) To protect the lens.
    b) To locking the switch in the off position.
· Will resist a 2m fall onto a hard surface.
· Will resist up to 80kg crush weight.

We've found the middle 40/45 lumen setting to be more than adequate for caving. The low 30/35 lumen setting is fine in crawls and smaller passages and the bright 50/60 lumen spot beam is good for spotting and looking up or down pitches.

OUR OWN TESTS USING DIFFERENT TYPES OF BATTERY:

NiMh Rechargeable AA Batteries: (Energizer 2500mAh) Usable Light: 11h:00m
Ran for 10h:25m on the middle 40 lumen setting before there was any noticable drop in output, which is considerably longer than expected.
00h:00m: On.
10h:25m: LED's flashed to signify end of regulated output.
10h:55m: Output had reduced significantly but still bright enough to cave on.
11h:10m: Very dim so ended the test.

Alkaline AA Batteries: (Duracell Procell) Usable Light: 8h:00m
Ran for 8h:00m on the middle 40 lumen setting before there was any noticable drop in output.
00h:00m: On.
08h:00m: LED's flashed to signify end of regulated output.
08h:05m: Output had reduced significantly.
08h:20m: Very dim so ended the test.

Lithium AA Batteries: (Energizer Ultimate) Usable Light: 13h:00m
Ran for 13h:00m on the middle 40 lumen setting before there was any noticable drop in output. Not as long as we were expecting bearing in mind that the NiMh rechargables did 10h:25m. Normally there's a strong argument for lithium batteries but possibly not in the Pixa 3 unless using it in very cold conditions. This is probably something to do with the way the Pixa regulates the output.
00h:00m: On.
13h:00m: LED's flashed to signify end of regulated output.
13h:10m: Output had reduced significantly.
13h:15m: Very dim so ended the test.

Important Information Regarding Battery Installation Important Information Regarding Battery Installation

We have seen a few Petzl Pixa Headtorches where the yellow latch that closes the battery door has become weak or broken. This will occur if users do not see the instructions and unaware of the correct opening procedure.

1). Ensure the head is rotated fully so that the LED's are facing the back plate.
2). Gently lift the yellow latch only until it clicks (no further), then holding the main body of the torch in one hand pull the battery door open pulling on the corner lugs (do not pull the body open using the latch).

PRODUCT AVAILABILITY: We source many of our products from very small manufacturers who don't have registered bar codes. Although technically possible it is impractical for us to operate an automated stock control system. We would be working for the machine rather than the machine working for us and there aren't enough hours in the day to do it. However, it is rare for us to be out of stock of anything and we do our best keep our site updated accordingly. If we know we're out of stock of something we remove the "add" button or put a note against the item. In the rare event we sell out of something between web site updates or we miss something, we would let you know, giving you the choice of keeping the item on order or cancelling. If you would like to check availability of an item prior to ordering either give us a call or drop us a line by email. E: info@hitchnhike.co.uk

YOUR SECURITY: We use the Actinic Payments System powered by CreditCall. This is 100% PCI DSS compliant and 3D secure. Actinic Payments meets all current banking security standards including PCI DSS, which is now a requirement for all UK businesses to accept credit card and debit card payments. It also supports anti-fraud options such as AVS, CV2 and 3D Secure. Your card details are not held anywhere in our system.
