This is because of the way the regulation circuit steps down to a very low "reserve" setting at a given voltage. For use out on the hill we would recommend swapping the batteries after 15-24 hours of use based upon using the middle setting most of the time, high and low some of the time. Although technically possible it is impractical for us to operate an automated stock control system. We would be working for the machine rather than the machine working for us and there aren't enough hours in the day to do it. However, it is rare for us to be out of stock of anything and we do our best keep our site updated accordingly.
